The Google Search universe expands once again with the introduction of an innovative feature: “Follow.”
This feature promises to provide users with the latest information on specific topics they are interested in, integrating search with the ability to track relevant content.
Google Search is revolutionizing its platform with the new "Follow" feature, which allows users to follow specific topics and receive updated information directly in their Discover feed. This innovation is recently announced on Google's blog and is designed to improve the search experience by allowing users to access relevant and up-to-date content on topics of interest, such as marathon training, directly from search results.
With the "Follow" feature, when searching for information, users can select the "Follow" button to have related articles and videos automatically appear on their Discover home page.
This functionality also offers the possibility of receiving notifications about relevant information. Users can manage their tracked search terms by updating or deleting them at any time. Google will use its search algorithm to find sites and information based on "expertise, authority, and trustworthiness" criteria.
Google explained how this tool work:
Initially, this feature will be rolled out in the coming weeks in the United States, both in the Google mobile application and in the Google Chrome and Apple Safari mobile browsers. It has not yet been confirmed if this feature will be available for desktop users or if it will expand outside the United States.
In addition to "Follow," Google plans to introduce other features. One of them will allow you to search for content created by specific people on various digital platforms, providing additional information about these creators. Another interesting feature for experimental Search Lab participants is “Notes,” which will allow users to write their own annotations on search content.
